The Wake Forest University School of Business was established in 1969 as The Babcock Graduate School of Management and the Calloway School of Business and Accountancy. It was set up with a donation from the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation and named in honour of Charles H Babcock, a businessman and philanthropist who influenced civic, cultural and business development in Winston-Salem and North Carolina.

In 1985, the Babcock Graduate School of Management earned its AACSB accreditation and in 1993, it moved to the newly built Worrell Professional Center, the first building in the United States to house both its graduate business and law schools under one roof.

It offers specialisms and degrees in accounting, economics, finance, general management, human resources management, leadership, marketing, management informations systems, production/operations management, quantitative analysis/statistics and operations research. There are approximately 1,300 students, with 90 academic staff and 100 administrative staff members.

The school is mostly located on the Wake Forest University campus in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Programmes offered there include a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree programme for undergraduates with majors in finance, accountancy, mathematical business, and business enterprise management. Graduate business programmes include an evening MBA, MA in Management and MS in Accountancy. The School of Business also maintains a campus in Charlotte, NC, that houses the Charlotte evening and Saturday MBA programmes.

Notable alumni from Wake Forest’s Business School include Eric Wiseman, chairman, president and CEO of VF Corp, a clothing and footwear company whose brands include North Face and Wrangler and Charlie Ergen, co-founder of Dish Network Corporation.
