University College of the North is a post-secondary institution located in Northern Manitoba and was first established in 1966 as Keewatin Community College.
The university offers over 40 degree, diploma, and certificate programmes in the faculty of arts and science, faculty of trades and technology, faculty of health, faculty of education, faculty of business, and community-based contract and apprenticeship training.
There are two main campuses, in The Pas and Thompson. There are also 12 regional centres in Churchill, Cross Lake, Easterville, Flin Flon, Pukatawagan (Mathias Colomb), Grand Rapids (Misipawistik), Nelson House (Nisichawayasihk), Norway House, Oxford House (Bunibonibee), St. Theresa Point, Split Lake and Swan River.
University College of the North’s small class sizes allow for lots of personal interaction and discussion. Students have access to state-of-the art technology in the UCN labs, libraries, classrooms and fitness facilities.
Each campus has a residence, food services, a bookstore and computer labs.
The Aboriginal centres at both Thompson and The Pas campuses invite all interested students to participate in cultural programmes, feasts, pipe ceremonies and sweat lodges.
