Established in 1925, Shikoku University is a private university in Tokushima Prefecture on Shikoku Island, in Japan. Shikoku is one of the five main islands of Japan.

"Holistic Independence" is the founding principle of Shikoku University, expressing their goal of equipping students with knowledge and skills, while fostering personal growth. Its emblem consists of a central "S" figure, standing for Shikoku University, flanked by four wings representing knowledge, possibility, freedom and harmony. The emblem's colour is the French traditional colour pervenche (blue with a tinge of red).

The four undergraduate departments are in literature, management and information science, human life science, and nursing. The four graduate schools cover the same areas.

The junior college includes departments of business and communication, human health, early childhood care and education, and music.

Facilities include an art building, dormitories, international house, a Center for General and Regional Education, an International Culture Building, a Calligraphic Culture Building, overseas visitor accommodation and a swimming pool.

The Shirasagi Ball Field is an all-weather facility with artificial turf and a scholarship programme.

Alumni have worked at Saginaw Valley State University, Avc Services Inc, Disability Network of Mid-Michigan, Nexteer Automotive and CrowdWorks.

The island of Shikoku is easily accessible by train, bus, ferry and airplane, particularly from the city of Kobe. Access points include the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, Onaruto Bridge, the Great Seto Bridge, and the Shimanami Expressway.
