The city of Nakhon Ratchasima is one of the four major cities in the region of Isan. Its name is commonly shortened to Korat.

The city’s historical sights also include the famous Thao Suranari statue, translated as Grandma Mo, who was the wife of Nakhon Ratchasima’s deputy governor. Students studying here also have access to breathtaking parks and nature, such as the Lamtakhong Dam and the Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo.

Nakhon Ratchasima is also known for its agriculture, producing rice, tapioca and sugar and contributes largely to the Isan region’s exports. The region is also famous for technology, with the establishment of Seagate Technology factory, where hard-drives and data storage equipment is produced.
