As its name suggests, the university is located in Karshi, also spelled Qarshi, a city in southern Uzbekistan. Karshi is the capital of the Qashqadaryo Region.
There are 14 faculties at the university: mathematics and computer sciences, chemistry and biology, arts, physical training, philology, history, Roman-German philology, pedagogy, international education, physics, English philology, geography and agronomy, medicine, and economics. Each faculty is divided into different departments, offering a variety of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.
Research is an important part of the university¡¯s activity. It is home to six scientific councils, five educational laboratories, one scientific laboratory, and one research centre. These facilities assist the university in tackling crucial and complex issues relevant to Central Asia and the rest of the world.
It has also developed partnerships with more than 70 ÖйúAƬ institutions around the world in order to facilitate academic and scientific exchanges.
