The Higher Institute of Educational Sciences of Huambo (abbreviated to ISCED-Huambo) originated as part of Agostinho Neto University, in the Angolan capital of Luanda. In 2009, it became fully autonomous, relocating to the central city of Huambo.
ISCED-Huambo offers 10 undergraduate courses, nine focused on teaching a different high-school subject, and the final one entitled ¡°teaching pedagogy¡±. The university publishes an academic journal entitled Revista ?rbita Pedag¨®gica (Pedagogical Orbit magazine).
To mark its 40th anniversary, ISCED-Huambo launched a university-extension project called ¡°Education for health¡±, involving monthly conferences, roundtables and panel debates. Another parallel project is entitled ¡°Conversations about African history¡±.
The university has an active student association.
