Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Pūkenga - Lecturer (Teaching) in Software Engineering to join the Te Kura Mātai Pūkaha, Pūrorohiko - School of Engineering and Computer Science on a four-year, fixed-term contract.

This position represents a chance to join and help shape a collaborative teaching and learning experience for Victoria University and Xiamen University students and staff. All areas of Software Engineering are of interest, but applications are particularly welcome from candidates with extensive teaching experience in programming, cybersecurity, and computer.

Key responsibilities:


	Provide high quality and critically reflective teaching practices
	Contribute to innovations in learning, teaching, and assessment within the discipline, including demonstrating digital fluency
	Contribute to the review and re-design of programmes and courses
	Engage in regular professional development that leads to enhanced teaching practice and where relevant, inclusion of practitioner perspectives
	Contribute to the collegial development of the Programme, Academic Unit and Faculty through respectful and transparent interactions with colleagues
	Undertake job evaluations in accordance with the University's remuneration framework and job evaluation


It is expected that the appointee will contribute to teaching across three trimesters. You will be required and expected to teach in China for periods of up to 20 weeks at a time throughout the year and will be based in New Zealand at Victoria University of Wellington for the remainder.

Assistant Professor position in concrete technology (tenure track)

We are looking for talented candidates for a full-time Assistant Professor position to work in a vibrant community of students, researchers and experts.

Concrete is one of the most used building materials, thus having an essential role in civil engineering research and education. At Aalto, we want to solve problems related to its climate change impact, researching low-carbon concrete, the durability of concrete structures, the quality of concrete (process and testing), as well as the concreting process and durability in a cold climate. Overall, this tenure track position is focused on concrete as a construction material, not its structural engineering aspects, and therefore the following topics are not relevant for this position: earthquake engineering, 3D printing of concrete, and chloride corrosion.

We are looking for an expert who is prepared to integrate and transform these aspects into high-level scientific research focused on concrete material technology. We particularly invite applications from candidates with expertise on the sustainability of concrete. We value a research portfolio with studies on low-carbon concretes, freeze-thaw resistance and other durability properties of concrete, non-destructive testing methods, or automated testing of concrete.

The Department of Civil Engineering aims to build the sustainable structures of tomorrow through high-quality research, education and collaboration. Our research is backed by extensive facilities and focused on building design and construction as well as mineral-based materials and mechanics. We operate with industry on a number of important topics, including construction management, concrete technology, indoor air technology and geoengineering.

Description

The Future-Generation of Resilient and Infrastructure Design Technology Hub (Future-GRID TecH) in the Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit one or more motivated post-doctoral associates (or research scientist for experienced candidates with 5 years of post-PhD experience). The candidates will work under the supervision of Future-GRID TecH director Dr. Mohamed Moustafa to carry out cutting-edge research in the broad area of future structures and resilient infrastructure systems with interest in applications of new and emerging technologies. Particular areas of interest include:


	advanced construction and reinforcement materials (UHPC, ECC, SMA)
	UHPC mix development, material characterization, modeling, and structural design
	structural 3D printing (metals, concrete, and composites)
	computational mechanics and structural topology optimization
	vision-based structural health monitoring
	autonomous and drone-based infrastructure inspection and vibration monitoring


Successful candidates must hold a PhD degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Material Engineering. Other related field such as Computer Science, Nuclear Engineering, and Material Science are also welcomed. Required qualifications include: strong communication and presentation skills; a track record in writing and publishing peer-reviewed journal publications; and previous or relevant experience in mentoring or supervising undergraduate student research or junior graduate students.

A formal training, education, or certification in a secondary area (beyond the main PhD focus) such as additive manufacturing, advanced/hybrid manufacturing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, computer vision, robotics, UAVs, computational fluid dynamics, etc. is a plus. Other preferred qualifications include: expertise in programming and coding (preferably using Python and C ) and GUI development; expertise in computational mechanics and finite element simulation and modeling; expertise in laboratory and multi-scale experimental testing at the material, component, and structural levels.??

The candidates will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists and undergraduate students, conduct high-quality “innovative and independent” experimental, analytical, and/or computational research, publish research work and results in scientific peer-reviewed journals and conferences, mentor undergraduate students, and participate in writing research grant proposals.
