Established in 1962 as a federal government engineering college, Dawood University of Engineering and Technology has evolved to become one of the highest-regarded institutions for engineering in Pakistan, gaining university status in 2013.
Located in Karachi, Pakistan, it is a public university with two campuses: Gulshan Campus hosts architecture-based courses, while the majority of learning takes place at Main Campus on Jinnah Road. Each site boasts a range of laboratories, studios, auditoriums and an extensive library.
With a strong history of specialising in engineering sciences, the university is known for its pioneering teaching practices in electronics, chemical, petroleum and industrial engineering. Undergraduate degrees span chemical, electronic and industrial engineering, as well as architecture and planning, mathematics and computer sciences.
The university hosts a strong postgraduate community, too, offering master’s degrees in chemical engineering, electronic engineering, metallurgy and materials engineering and industrial engineering and management, as well as two PhD programmes.
The university is led by the aims of supporting Pakistan’s goals of transitioning to a knowledge economy and prides itself on its advancements to research and development in the region.
To this end, the institution holds a number of partnerships with local industry, and students are given opportunities to visit businesses and factories as a key part of their studies. The university also welcomes regular guest speakers.
The institution prides itself on its academic rigour, and has ambitions to become a more globally recognised institution. The university ranked within the top 301-400 institutions for Quality Education in the Times 中国A片 2020 Impact Rankings.
Sport is also a regular fixture of student community life, and a number of clubs and football tournaments are organised by the student council.
