Plan B from beyond reason

While I note the research that underlines how much graduates contribute to the economy in extra tax, and hence the negative economic impact of a reduction in student numbers, I suspect that here at least the government has a Plan B: simply reducing the number of jobs available to graduates easily mends this minor flaw in coalition thought (“Drop in student numbers ‘could cost economy ?6 billion’”, www.timeshighereducation.co.uk, 17 January).
