In "Heavy metal for the data age" (THES, April 30), I was interested to read: "Stephen Quigley celebrates the creation of the first working stored program computer".
Cambridge University is celebrating the 50th anniversary of this event, which is surprising because Manchester University celebrated the 50th anniversary of "The Baby", its "first working stored program computer", on June 21 1998.
Is the difference noted a technical one or a question of marketing?
