Rock musician Van Morrison has turned down a chance to teach at the University of Ulster.
The taciturn singer/songwriter had been offered a special guest lectureship at the university.
Mr Morrison's invitation came after he revealed an interest in teaching philosophy.
But at least for now the author of No Guru No Method No Teacher is to be "no teacher" after all.

Bob Welch, head of English at Ulster, said: "It doesn't look as though it will happen. Once the whole thing got in the media, he just lost interest. It is a pity."
Mr Morrison, who was awarded an honorary doctorate of letters by the university, never formally replied to the chance to host a series of three seminars over the academic year.

Ulster awarded him the honorary degree four years ago in recognition of his "sustained ability as a contemporary musician".
Mr Welch said: "He is a very intelligent and articulate man, but the circumstances in which he could become involved would have to be very carefully planned.
The proposal for possible seminars on creativity, ideology and popular culture has not, however, been withdrawn.
Mr Welch said: "We would remain very open to the possibility of him becoming involved but it doesn't seem likely."
