Efficiency gains imposed by the Government on teacher training courses mean travel and equipment costs are being passed on to students, MPs were told this week. The extra costs could become a barrier to many would-be teachers, increasing recruitment problems, John Howson, Oxford Brookes University's head of quality assurance, warned the House of Commons' education and employment committee.
