In response to comments by Liz Allen of Natfhe (Letters, THES October 4), University of Sunderland staff made it very clear that they supported the introduction of the Net Pay Enhancement Scheme.
More than 73 per cent opted to join this scheme, with the majority in all categories responding positively. This positive result fell short (by 111 acceptances) of the legal requirement for an 80 per cent acceptance to implement the scheme immediately. The university is, however, looking at ways in which we can implement it for the benefit of all those staff who wished to participate.
