It seems that the copyright case reported by your Hong Kong correspondent, Susie Weldon, is not going to end with the published "confidential report" by the Committee on Personnel Matters.
As much as I would like to see this long drawn-out case come to a close, I feel compelled to make a postscript to Susie Weldon's report and let the case drag on a little longer.
Ms Weldon's report states: "The assistant, Nancy Lee, said she was friendly with Dr Lam's assistant and they helped each other."
It is true that I have explicitly said the first half of the sentence (friendly with Dr Lam's assistant) to all parties concerned: Dr Koo, Dr Koo's counsel, Professor Hedley and the Committee on Personnel Matters.
However, I do not think the second half of the sentence (they helped each other) truly represents what I actually said to the committee.
I believe that readers of The THES deserve adequate and accurate information to form their opinions on the case. I am grateful for an opportunity to set the record straight.
