It may be a little early to pronounce the death of the monograph. New printing technologies already allow small runs without incurring high overheads. In both electronic and carbon-on-paper technologies, publishers will continue to play an important role in validation, editorial creativity, design, marketing and archiving. No website offers all these services for new academic scholarship.
