I was fascinated to read of the "Fears over flood of racism cases" (THES, August 11). The fear might at least serve as a discipline over those institutions or departments with an overbearing attitude towards their staff.
At most there is likely to be a trickle, as at present. There are more instances than cases. It takes perseverance, stamina and courage to pursue, with dark nights of the soul and self-doubt to be endured, and that will be enough to deter most. The aftermath can be uncertain and there are many who have lived to regret upholding their rights. There may be little justice.
