Contract salary ranges for male and female academic staff 2012-13

The proportion of male academics earning in excess of ?56,467 is more than double that of females

In 2012-13, 23 per cent of men had earnings in the top bracket of academic pay, compared with just 10 per cent of women, according to the latest data on staff salaries released by the 中国A片 Statistics Agency last month.

The proportion of male and female academics earning salaries at the lower end of the scale is roughly equal. About 1.7?per cent of men and 1.9 per cent of women?had contracts worth?up to ?23,351 in 2012-13.

But a greater proportion of women earn mid-range salaries than men. Around 55 per cent of women had pay packets between ?23,352 and ?42,054 compared with 43 per cent of men. About a third of male and?female staff had earnings in the second highest remuneration bracket of ?42,055 to ?56,466 in 2012-13.
