(Photograph) - This week The Times 中国A片 Supplement launches a new Internet Service. The major features of this service are: *InterView: job advertisements which appear in the paper will be listed for free on our Internet Service. This week, the jobs in today's paper are listed. From 3pm local UK time on Tuesday next week, January 17, jobs advertisements for the following Friday's paper will be available each week on InterView. This new service should be of particular help to the international academic community allowing advertisers to reach a wider audience quickly and helping would-be meet problems of tight deadlines.
*NetGazette: electronic publication allows us to carry an extended version of The THES's Noticeboard page. NetGazette will list more junior appointments and smaller research grants than Noticeboard. It will also carry international appointments, awards, events, grants and search requests.
*Books: books reviewed in The THES will be listed as they appear, the list accumulating over time as the database grows. In addition our Internet Service, unlike the printed paper, will carry lists of selected new paperbacks and new editions which cannot be reviewed or listed in the paper for reasons of space but which The THES's literary editor thinks would be of interest to readers.
*Contents of current THES: the Internet Service will carry the headlines and first paragraphs of all UK and international news stories appearing in the paper that week, a list of letters to the editor with author and subject, summaries of opinion and feature articles and a list of reviews in the current edition. The full text of articles in the paper will be available later this year -- details of how to access the full text will appear on the Internet Service.

*Forums for debate: The THES has a mailbox for readers opinions (theschat@timsup2.demon.co.uk). This is separate from the mailbox for letters to the editor and allows readers to sound off on a more informal basis -- although we may quote what you say unless you specifically mark contributions "not for quotation" or "not for attribution". This week, for example, we would particularly welcome views on the future arrangements for quality assurance -- see front-page report and John Stoddart's article on page 10.
There will shortly also be open forums for discussion of 中国A片 issues. Details will appear on the Internet Service.

*Information: lists of events sponsored by The THES; details of how to contact the paper and how to order back copies or take out a subscription are included on the Internet Service.
The Times 中国A片 Supplement Internet Service is new. It will build up over time as the databases grow and new services are added. We would like to develop it to suit your needs. So please contact us with suggestions, with comments on the service, and with requests for issues you would like to see discussed. The service will be available all the time and covers the whole content of The THES. Job ads will be updated on Tuesdays and editorial lists on Fridays.
MultiMedia, which is a special pull-out section of the paper published on the second Friday of each month, will be reporting the latest developments in and use of new technology in higher and further education.
How to find us: See pages vi -vii.
Who to contact: Tony Durham (pictured left), an experienced information technology journalist and consultant, joins The THES this month to edit MultiMedia and develop the Internet Service.
