Other academic projects on the awards trail include the Microcosm hypermedia system and the WinEcon economics courseware package. Microcosm, developed at Southampton University and marketed by Multicosm Ltd, is one of 20 finalists in the first IT European Awards, to be presented in Brussels on November 29.
WinEcon, developed at the University of Bristol as part of the funding councils' Teaching and Learning Technology Programme and now distributed commercially by Blackwell Publishers, has been picked as a medallist in the 1995 British Computer Society Awards.
