THE MEASURERS

"The Measurers: a Flemish Image of Mathematics in the 16th Century" is part of an exhibition of mathematics from the 16th century at the Museum of the History of Science, The exhibition closes on December 15 (open Monday-Friday until October 1 then Tuesday-Saturday, 12noon-4pm). SCIENCE, CRIME AND JUSTICE

Birkbeck College has organised a day school on the role of science in the criminal justice system. It will be held on November 4 (9am-12.50pm) in the Science Museum, South Kensington, SW7. FIVE YEARS AND COUNTING

A conference organised by the Office for Public Management on November 6 and 7 (day 1: 9.45am-9pm; day 2: 8.30am-3.30pm) will bring together a wide range of perspectives on women's current position in society. Keynote speakers include: Nell Merlino, founder of the Take our Daughters to Work Campaign. Conference workshops will explore: how women-friendly the world is today; how women's lives may be influenced in the near future by political shifts between personal and community responsibility; the change in media perceptions of women. TEACHER. STUDY GROUP CANCELLATION

Following the withdrawal of a keynote speaker, the one-day conference organised by the Teacher Education Group "A New Agenda for Research in Teacher Education?' organised for October 21 at the University of London's Institute of Education has been cancelled.

Cancellation fees and details of the new date for this conference will be circulated in the near future.
