Hello everybody
Yes, it's Maureen. And I've finally made it to Robin Hood's Bay. If you look at the picture you can just see my cottage on the hill.
Yesterday we had a wonderful walk along the cliffs and actually had a swim in the North Sea! Whar I've always loved about this place is the peace and quiet so imagine my surprise when I got back to find what looked like a demonstration going on in the middle of the town. There were dozens of young people walking up and down the steep high street and when I asked what was happening I was told that they'd been sent there by the Registrar at Poppleton. And they were all looking for the same person, ME!
It turns out that they're students we've accepted on the media course for next year but who now wish to gain admittance this year to save all that money on course fees and maintenance. It was even more embarrassing when some of them produced forks and spades and began digging up the gardens of local pensioners in a desperate attempt to show they were already involved in voluntary work and therefore qualified for the new government dispensation.
So far I've escaped detection but I can't help feeling that the holiday is going to be slightly marred by the need to be permanently dressed in an all-over wet suit and heavy goggles. But then, as they say, a change is as good as a rest.
Best wishes to anyone who happens to be in the department.
Maureen
