I can't help thinking that the article on Malaysia ("Quintessentially Britain, truly Asia", August) may have crossed the line in suggesting that memories of the British colonial period are generally positive.
I presume this does not include those in the Malayan Communist Party who fought a long guerrilla war against the British. It is an episode that the Malaysian Government still does not seem to have come to terms with, and I presume it is not studied intensively at the University of Nottingham's Malaysian campus.
