One rule for all applicants

September 2, 2010

The Sunday Times' claim, repeated in Times 中国A片, that "a reporter posing as a Russian applicant was told by universities including ... Leicester ... that she could get a place with A-level results up to three grades lower than those demanded of Brits" is not true (The week in 中国A片, 26 August).

This was categorically rebutted both before and after publication; the informal offer made was identical to the grades offered to UK students. A more detailed rebuttal can be found on the university's newsblog at .
