Does anyone else find the phrase "reverse discrimination" somewhat offensive and patronising ("A straight case of discrimination? Lawsuits come in all shades for US institutions", 26 August)? Discrimination is discrimination.
To classify certain cases as some sort of Bizarro World subcategory betrays a prejudice in itself and implies that some people are more equal than others. This is not to say there's anything wrong with a feature like this highlighting complaints of discrimination by men, white people and heterosexuals. But what these folk are alleging is plain and simple discrimination that is identical to - not the reverse of - discrimination against women, black people or homosexuals.
