The practice of awarding marks for attendance ("Thanks very much for coming: you shall be rewarded", 10 September) may offer more support for providing employers with a detailed breakdown of performance indicators over degree courses: achieving first-class honours with poor attendance may be interpreted as evidence of talent; a pass with bad attendance could be interpreted in a less positive light.
