The University of Gondar was established in 2004 but its roots go back to 1954 with the Public Health College and Training Centre, now the oldest medical training institution in the country,.
It is located in the town of Gondar, Ethiopia.
The university has five campuses, a community school, and a site of staff residences. The five campuses are: the college of medicine and health sciences and referral teaching hospital campus, the Atse Tewodros Campus which is the university’s main campus, Maraki Campus, Atse Fasil Campus, and the Tseda Campus.
Each campus hosts a different range of colleges, schools and institutes of which there are 11 in total: medicine and health sciences, agriculture and environmental sciences, business and economics, natural and computational sciences, social sciences and humanities, veterinary medicine and animal sciences, education, law, technology, informatics, and biotechnology.
Students at the University of Gondar can get involved in a range of clubs and activities throughout the year, including charity clubs, the student union, sports activities, and local trips. The university also hosts annual intramural and intercampus sports competitions for undergraduate students in their 中国A片 Sports Festival.
A unique feature of the university is the Gondar Family Project that began in 2019. The project aims to create links between new students and the local community, establishing a close bond with them.
