对于 Susquehanna University
Susquehanna University is a Lutheran liberal arts institution in central Pennsylvania. Founded as the Missionary Institute of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1858, the university has been coeducational since 1872, the year when it and the institution’s former sister school, Susquehanna Female College, merged. A private college, Susquehanna has been known by its current name since 1895.
Well over half of the university’s classes comprise fewer than 20 students, while it also enjoys relatively low student-staff ratios. More than 95% of its students are in work or further study within six months of graduation. Students at Susquehanna can choose from 60 different courses. Business & commerce, psychology, creative writing and biological sciences are among the most popular. Its business courses are particularly highly-rated. All fall under the umbrella of the university’s two schools, the School of Arts and Sciences and the Sigmund Weis School of Business.
Susquehanna is located on the river of the same name, in the sparsely-populated borough of Selingrove, 50 miles north of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania’s state capital. Philadelphia, the state’s largest city, is 130 miles north east. More than 90% of students at Susquehanna live on its rural 325-acre campus.
Claude A. Buss, the leading US diplomat stationed in the Philippines during the Second World War who also worked in China as well as lecturing at Stanford University and the University of Southern California, went to Susquehanna, as did Camilla Luddington, the English actor of Grey’s Anatomy fame who also voices Lara Croft in various Tomb Raider video games.
