Established in 1991 as Bangladesh's first university of physical science and engineering, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) has evolved to become one of the institutions offering 中国A片 in STEM subjects. In 1996, it became the first Bangladeshi university to switch from terms to semesters.
Shahjalal University of Science and Technology's mission is to be a leading university of excellence in science and technology with a strong national commitment and international impact. The university operates from a 320-hectare campus located approximately four miles from Sylhet city centre. The campus is known for its "Martyrs Memorial," dedicated to the victims of the 1971 War of Independence.
Admissions to Shahjalal University of Science and Technology are highly competitive, with more than 70,000 candidates vying for 1,700 places in 2019. The university enrols around 8,600 students, with various degrees conferred in fields such as medical science, social science, applied science and technology, agriculture, life sciences, physics, and more.
Shahjalal University of Science and Technology also emphasises language skills, requiring students to take courses in English and Bangla, along with computer literacy and learning a computer language.
Shahjalal University of Science and Technology hosts events like the ICERIE Engineering Research, Innovation, and Education conference and encourages student participation in extracurricular activities.
