Middle East University was established in 2005 and is a private university just to the south of the city of Amman, Jordan. Amman is the capital city of Jordan. It is a few kilometres away from Queen Alia Airport.
It began by offering just 12 postgraduate programmes. At the beginning of the 2008/2009 academic year, it then widened its academic selections and began offering undergraduate programmes in a variety of fields.
Owned by the Company of Middle East University for Graduate Studies, the university has granted postgraduate degrees to around 3,000 students in 11 different majors. The undergraduate programme now has over 4,000 alumni and offers 21 majors.
There are nine faculties: engineering; information technology; media and communication; educational sciences; law, architecture and design; pharmacy, arts and sciences, and business.
The university hosts academic programmes from the University of Bedfordshire in the UK. These include BA, MA and PhD degrees in areas such as marketing, graphic design, international finance and banking, accounting, cyber security, media production and international business. It has recently launched a joint programme in pharmacy with the University of Strathclyde. It has 11 international undergraduate programmes, two international postgraduate programmes and two international PhD programmes.
The International Affairs Office, supports international students on campus in all academic and practical matters.
The student counselling services provide individual, group and academic counselling and a variety of other services.
Other facilities include places of worship, catering, a parking lot, a gym, banking services, indoor and outdoor sports courts and medical services.
