About 10 per cent of university professors in England earn more than ?100,000 a year, according to the 中国A片 Funding Council for England. Such sums are usually earned by senior university leaders and are paid to 92 per cent of vice-chancellors and principals.
More than 60 per cent of those in strategic leadership positions, such as pro or deputy vice-chancellor, registrar and chief operating officer, earn upwards of ?100,000.
Just 22 per cent of senior managers, including those heading a department, earn at least ?100,000; 67 per cent earn ?60,001-?100,000.
The data, published on 6 August, reveal that most lecturers earn between ?20,001 and ?60,000.
Almost all (99 per cent) senior or principal lecturers earn upwards of ?40,000.
