(Photograph) - God - or mere man? Argument rages over whether this mysterious and immense bronze figure, dating from around 1200bc and discovered in 1986 in sacrificial pits at Sanxingdui, China, is a god or a priest. The outcome will cast new light on Chinese religious beliefs and reveal more about one of the country's earliest cultures. Other extraordinary archaeological finds from China will go on display at the British Museum in September in an exhibition likely to rival that of the famous Tutankhamun treasures.
