French president Emmanuel Macron has launched a website for disillusioned scientists to apply for research funding after US president Donald Trump¡¯s decided to pull his country out of the Paris climate change agreement.

In a video posted on the website Mr Macron said that all scientists could find in France a ¡°second homeland¡±.

¡°I call on them come here and work with us, work together on concrete solutions for our climate, our environment,¡± he said.

France¡¯s initiative offers senior researchers grants of up to €1.5 million (?1.3 million) over four years and junior researchers grants of up to €1 million over the same period.

The website is called?Make Our Planet Great Again, a play on Mr Trump¡¯s campaign slogan, ¡°Make America Great Again¡±.

Applicants will get an answer to their bids in under a month, according to the site, which adds that a ¡°package of support for practical issues related to the move¡± will be provided.
