A NEW, independent professional association for teachers, to oversee training, professional development and standards in the profession, could soon be set up. The College of Preceptors is meeting with subject associations, including the National Association for the Teaching of English and the Mathematical Association, on April 16 to firm up proposals for a "Royal College" for teachers.
