A. Campbell, professor of biomedical ethics at Otago Medical School and director of the bioethics research centre, has been appointed to the chair in ethics in medicine; R. Fowler, chairman of the department of classical studies at the University of Waterloo, Canada, has been appointed to the Henry Overton Wills chair of Greek.
