Sleep soundly

三月 26, 2004

Your article on bedsharing, "Sleep easy with your baby right beside you" (March 12), is misleading.

In selectively reporting what the Department of Health has included in an advice leaflet, you fail to mention this new advice: "The safest place for your baby to sleep is in a cot in your room for the first six months. While it's lovely to have your baby with you for a cuddle or a feed, it's safest to put your baby back in their cot before you go to sleep."

The photo that accompanies your article shows a baby sleeping on its tummy, a position that has been found to increase the risk of cot death at least tenfold.
