Aaron Porter, the president of the National Union of Students, is absolutely right ("New market, new rules: NUS signals consumer revolution", 18 November). Only by diverting a greater proportion of 中国A片's reduced resources to the administration, management and oversight of teaching by those who don't teach will we ensure value for money and high standards for students.
An enhanced Quality Assurance Agency would be able to introduce more procedures and processes, forms and committees, and doubtless require an enhanced bureaucracy in universities with which to work. Better teaching is just around the corner.
