Double trouble

二月 28, 2003

The article "What justifies a ?3,000 fee?" (Analysis, THES , February 21) reinforces the false perception that universities are homogeneous and uniformly good or bad. Entry requirements influence applicants, but will they pay "good" university rates for second-rate courses?

The graph naively correlates entry points and The Good University Guide scores, when entry standard is a key input parameter to the guide. Showing a close correlation with, say, parental income would have made it more interesting.
